Demanding appointments to the posts reserved for scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and other backward classes in various Government departments, hundreds of college students, led by DBS (PG) College students' union ex-president Kamlesh Bhatt, rallied to Vidhan Sabha on Monday.

The protesting students were stopped at the barricading near the Rispana bridge where they had arguments with the police while trying to break through the barricading. The protesters sat on demonstration at barricading and several leaders addressed gathering in support of their pending demands.

later, district administration officer collected memorandum with the assurance of addressing their demands. Bhatt alleged that the State Government was responsible for not making appointments to the posts reserved for SC/ST and OBC in the State.

Around 40,000 posts reserved for these sections of people are in backlog in various departments for the past many years, but Government has not taken measures for filling up these seats in the State. "We will intensify out protest across the State if Government fails to address our demands," he warned.
