In a bid to deal with Reviewing Officers' Association (ROA) comprises of reviewing officer, assistant reviewing officer and computer operator, who have been protesting against the secretariat administration (SAD) and boycotting work for four hours per day, secretariat administration (SAD) has not allowed them to enter the secretariat on Thursday. This led to altercation between the secretariat security staff and protesters.
Talking to The Pioneer, secretariat administration (SAD) secretary GS Jangpangi said that RO has lodged a complaint against the secretariat security in-charge, Inspector PC Khantwal. He further said that to ensure working atmosphere in the secretariat, SAD has to impose such order. "If they want to protest, they can stage protest outside the secretariat or parade ground because it disturbs peace of the secretariat," he added.
Inspector Khantwal said that he had received an order from SAD banning the entry of the members of the Reviewing Officers' Association (RAO), who have been staging dharna inside the secretariat premise since August 1, from Thursday.
"If he or she wants to enter the secretariat, they will have to declare they are coming to work at the entrance of the secretariat," he said.
"In a bid to implement the order, I was briefing to the staff at 8.30 am. Meanwhile, RAO general secretary Deepak Joshi reached the gate. I asked him to open the gate so that I could apprise him about the order, "Khantwal added.
"Joshi came out from his car and started using abusive language against me at the entrance and threatened that he would ensure my termination from the secretariat. Meanwhile, police came to settle the matter. It is already recorded in CCTV footage," Khantwal added.
Meanwhile, Joshi alleged that the secretariat security staff had misbehaved with him. He reiterated that their protest would continue unless and until SAD terminates Insp Khantwal.
They have been demanding creation of 14 more sections in the secretariat. Currently, the State has 141 sections and they want the sections to be increased up to 155 so that they would get promotions out of turn.
