It was a day of agitations and rallies in the capital on Monday. The UPNl, Asha workers and Sangrah Ameens of State revenue department took out separate rallies and protested at the State Secretariat. These agitations kept the police and district administration on tenterhooks and caused traffic snarls in the city.
The Asha workers are demanding that the Government should increase their allowance to `15,000 per month and adjust them as State Government employee. The Asha workers took out a rally from Parade ground and protested at the Secretariat. Addressing the rally the President of Asha workers Kamla Kunjwal charged the respective State Governments for not keeping the promises it made in the past. She said that BJP Government led by BC Khanduri had promised an incentive of `5,000 while the Congress Government had twice promised to give bonus to the Asha workers, but no promise was fulfilled.
The Sangrah Ameens also held a vociferous protest at the Secretariat; these employees of revenue department are annoyed as even after a written assurance from the State Chief Minister on November 14 last year the State Government is yet to fulfill their demand for reservation in the posts of Nayab Tehsildar.
