Protest over atrocities against SC

Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha activists protested at SSP office on Saturday and demanded action against the persons who had misbehaved and manhandled some SC persons in Kalsi, Vikasnagar area.

The party members led by Dharmpal Ghaghat assembled at SSP office and shouted slogans against the administration. The protesters alleged that two days having passed, the  accused have not been arrested. A delegation of the party members met the SSP Dr Sadanand Date and put their demand before him. SSP Date assured them that a case has been registered against accused in Kalsi Police Station and they will be arrested soon.

The protesters said that atrocities against persons belonging to SC category are on the rise over the past few years in the district. Recently at laksiyar Kenota, Kalsi in Vikasnagar, three persons, including a woman, were manhandled by two persons belonging to other castes, they cited.

Earlier, in Sahiya, Vikasnagar, persons belonging to SC were not allowed to enter the temple. They were allowed after district administration provided security in the temple, they  said.

They alleged that two district administrative officers had  recently directed Raipur police to beat a Dalit family. They  will intensify its protest if  the accused are not booked and punished, they warned. Those were Bhagwat Prasad, Vijay, Harish, Sisodiya, Arun, Karan Mahendra and  Saurabh among others.
