The traders based in Sitarganj have kept their shops shuttered on Friday, protesting against the police failure to trace the allegedly abducted trader Ravish Garg who had gone missing on May 19. Protesters alleged that seven days having passed since the incident occurred, police have remained clueless about the identity of the abductors. One of the protesters Sanjay Goyal said that they were feeling insecure with the trader remaining under the clutches of the abductors for the past seven days. “The abductors remain scot free and this is what is adding to our insecurity,” he said. The businessmen warned that their protest would continue till Garg is rescued and the abductors are arrested.
An Udham Singh Nagar- based senior police officer said that several police teams have been pressed into to crack the case. They are working hard to rescue the trader, he added.
Notably, Garg had been allegedly abducted from Sitarganj on May 19 night when he was going back home after shutting down his cement and construction material shop at Sisauna Bazaar. After the worried family members had approached the local police station, the police had started search operation. However, aside from recovering a scooty and a pair of sandals from a place two kilometres away from his residence, nothing concrete leading to the identities of the criminals have come the police way so far.
