Protest for implementation of 7th pay commission held

Demanding implementation of seventh pay commission recommendations, the employees of various Government corporations and departments under the banner of State Employee Federation protested at Gandhi Park on Thursday. Some of the protesters sat on a day-long hunger strike at the same venue.

One of the protesters said that power corporation employees are being given benefit of seventh pay commission while those working in other corporations and Government departments are being exempted from it.

They would not tolerate such double- standards of the State Government with the government employees, he warned.

Earlier, the employees of various corporations and departments, including State corporations, local bodies, Jal Sansthan, development authority and district panchayats, assembled at Gandhi Park and raised slogans against the State Government.

A member of the federation Santosh Rawat said that they have been demanding the State Government to implement the seventh pay commission recommendations for the past many months.

Despite several rounds talks being held in the past with the chief secretary and other Government representatives, nothing concrete has happened so far, he said.

Another member said that the previous Congress-helmed State Government had assured them of the benefits of the seventh pay commission recommendations reaching all of them.

“Even the present Government has dished out the same assurance. Yet they are sitting on it despite the movements we are staging on the matter,” he said.

The federation has decided to go for a day- long strike by blocking roads on September 19 in support of its demand.
