In line with the police department’s resolve to clamp down on crimes, ADG law and order Ashok Kumar said that the properties of the history- sheeters would be confiscated in the next two months. Besides, they would be paraded before the police stations often, he said while taking a review meeting in Haridwar on Thursday.
He asked the officials to be stringent while dealing with crime-big or small, from eve- teasing to murder. He directed the officials to close the previous history sheets of the criminals and also to open new history sheets of the notorious criminals. The professional criminals must be rounded up and paraded often at police stations, he said. He further asked police to ensure that the criminals once arrested are not let off on bail. “The people who offer the bail amount should be asked not to bail them out. They should be kept behind bars,” he said.
He also laid thrust on strict enforcement of the traffic rules. He asked the city patrol unit officials to ensure this, affirming that they would be made accountable for any traffic-related problem. He stressed that the CPU is not meant to just slap penalties but to see to it that the traffic movement is smooth.
ADG further said that to ensure security of the women, police should clamp ‘Gunda Act’ on those engaged in eve- teasing and the like.
