The Uttarakhand Rajya Andolankari Samman Parishad (URASP) vice chairman Dhirendra Pratap has asked the Chief Minister Harish Rawat to promote senior Cabinet member Indira Hridayesh to the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
The CM should give Hridayesh the task of programme implementation so that she can monitor and ensure execution of the numerous promises and declarations made by the CM, Dhirendra Pratap said.
In a statement released to the media Pratap said, " Since the task of implementing these assurances on the ground would be a big challenge and a major issue in the ensuing 2017 assembly elections, the time has come now when an experienced administrator, who also commands the respect of bureaucracy, could be assigned particularly for this job. This could render fruitful results for the Congress."
Pratap further said, "It's a herculean task and if the promises made by the CM- which were certainly in large numbers- if not honoured, could boomerang and prove disastrous for the Congress in the 2017 polls," he added.
Pratap opined, "It is always easy to speak whatever you like but to complete the task is always a big headache so when the countdown for elections is already on, I sincerely feel that a leader of Hirdayesh's eminence and dynamism could fill the backlog by her sheer experience," he affirmed.
While also commending the abilities of Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Pratap said stressed that only a combined team effort can help the Congress survive the litmus test by winning the 2017 Assembly elections, he opined.
Pratap also informed that he had sought time from Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and a note had already been sent to him, expressing his personal views.
