The problems of former Vice Chancellor (VC) of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University Satyendra Prasad Mishra, who was removed from his position last year following order of Uttarakhand High Court (HC), are slated to increase further as the State Government is now planning to recover remuneration offered to him.
The HC in October last year had cancelled the appointment of Mishra for providing wrong information to get the post of VC.
The Additional Secretary Ayush, G B Oli has asked the registrar of the Uttarkhand Ayurveda University to initiate the process of recovery of salary and other remuneration offered to Mishra during his stint as VC. Mishra had assumed charge of VC on January 2015 and was removed following the court order in November 2016.
It is learnt that the total salary and other perks offered to him during this period are in excess of Rs 50 lakh. The Additional Secretary Oli had written the letter on March 21 but strangely enough the university officials are claiming that they are yet to get the order. The Registrar of the University Dr A K Tripathi told the Pioneer that the university has not received any letter in this regard. The claim of the registrar looks strange as the letter was officially received by the University on March 24 and a letter number 1864 was assigned to it.
When contacted by The Pioneer former VC Mishra also said that he unaware of any such decision.
He however said that he had tendered his resignation before HC order. Mishra added that the HC only ordered his removal and no mention of recovery was there in the order.
He claimed that some powerful elements are against him and targeting him.
A bench of Uttarakhand HC comprising of Chief Justice K M Joseph and Justice U C Dhyani while hearing a petition filed by Dehradun resident Neeraj Dhulia had cancelled the appointment of Mishra.
In his petition Dhulia had questioned the appointment of Satyendra Prasad Mishra as VC on the fact of his being over age for the post at the time of appointment.
The petitioner had challenged the appointment of Mishra and had accused him of hiding his age while applying for the post of VC.
