The investigation officer Jeetu Kamboj has started probe in the ‘sexual assault’ case filed by a lady journalist against the ex-MlA and chairman, Pauri Municipal Council Yashpal Benam under Section 354a-1/ 376/511/506 of the Indian Panel Code.
The investigation officer visited the room of the municipal board, where Yashpal Benam was alleged to have sexually assaulted the female journalist. Her statement was also registered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate under section 164 at district headquarter Pauri on Tuesday.Pauri Superintendent of Police Ajay Joshi said the investigation officer Jeetu Kamboj has been collecting evidences against Benam and after the formalities are completed action will be taken by police against the accused.
Joshi said the complainant has returned the security given her on Monday. She said as she has recorded her statement before the Chief judicial Magistrate she no longer requires it, Joshi said.He said security had been provided to her on her appeal for such in view of the accused allegedly threatening and pressuring her to have the case withdrawn on Monday.
