Many cases of teachers working in the State schools on the basis of fake documents having surfaced in the State, 50 such teachers have come under the scanner of the special investigation team which has started its probe. Scared of the consequences awaiting them, many of such teachers under the lens of the investigation are now leaving the schools.

It is learnt that the SIT has enlisted 50 such teachers and also given their names to the education department. Some have fake B.Ed degrees while others have fake appointment letters, sources privy to the probe said.

After the district education department asked the department officials to seize the documents of such teachers, many teachers are not recording their attendance in the school registers. Most of them who are not attending schools have been  working since 2000, sources informed.

However, this is the not the first case of teachers getting jobs through fake documents in Haridwar district. Earlier too, some primary teachers had been caught whose BTC mark sheets and domicile certificates were found fake.

In April, 12 such teachers had been suspended. The investigating officer in the newly formed SIT Brahmpal Saini who is also the district education officer said that the list made by the SIT has been sent to the district block education officials.

“The errant  teachers are mostly from Bahadrabad block. We have found document irregularities involving B.Ed degree, residence and caste certificates and appointment letters. As soon as these certificates are found to be fake cases would be lodged against them following which penal action would be taken.”
