After assuming charge as the Pauri District Magistrate, Chandra Shekhar Bhatt has said that his priorities will be to ensure effective implementation of the Government schemes and services while redressing the problems faced by the public.

Previously posted as the managing director and additional commissioner of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, Bhatt took over charge of the district from Chandresh Kumar, who was transferred to the post of additional secretary, School Education and Environment. Bhatt said that since he himself is a native of a mountainous region, he is aware of the pains suffered by the people living in mountainous districts.

Stressing that steps will be taken to redress problems faced by the public, he said that all departmental officials will be instructed to execute the development plans and schemes with transparency and honesty. Official negligence and misuse of funds will be not tolerated at any cost and in case of complaints of misuse of money being validated, severe action will be taken against the official concerned. Stating that he is a public servant, the DM said that he will ensure that the issues raised by the public are heard and resolved by the administration.

Regarding the improper dumping of garbage in different parts of the Pauri town and the indifferent attitude of municipal board towards ensuring scientific waste disposal, Bhatt said that this problem will be solved in consultation with the municipality. Exhorting the public to participate in developmental efforts, the district magistrate added that development can be achieved only with the cooperation of the public.
