The Secretary, Home and Information, Vinod Sharma,  who had been appointed as Garhwal Commissioner, assumed charge on Thursday. After assuming the additional  charge , he said he would  fulfil his obligations with integrity and honesty. Dwelling on his priority, he said he would ensure that the benefits of the schemes and policies the government has firmed up for the weaker sections would reach the remotest areas of the State.

Commissioner Sharma said that all the projects would be reviewed consistently so as to ensure  that they are implemented in a better way. “I will make sure that Patwaris, lekhpals, Naib Tehsildars, SDMs and DMs would sit together with me regularly to review things related to electricity, water and roads. It will also be ensured that the revenue records and the certificates like caste certificates and income certificates are easily available to the people,” he said, adding that he would soon review the  progress of the developmental schemes and law and order of Garhwal Mandal with DMs, SSPs and SPs.

Appreciating the works done by his predecessor, Sharma said that the law  and order is far better here as compared to other states. “I would do everything to ensure that all the revenue cases are disposed off promptly,” he said.

Referring to Chief Minister stressing on innovative works aside from the routine ones, Sharma said that the DMs would show the way. “Special emphasis will be laid on programmes related to the promotion of rural livelihood. Timely implementation of the schemes will also be ensured,” he said.

On the preparations for the election, Sharma said that the preparations are now in the final stage. He assured that all the instructions issued by the election commission will be followed to the full.
