Primary teachers' recruitment on fast track

After the Uttarakhand High Court’s decision to complete the recruitment process of primary teachers, the education department has expedited the process of recruitment. The HC on Tuesday asked the education department to complete the recruitment process but stopped it from declaring the final result. The Director in charge of State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) Seema Jaunsari told The Pioneer that the department would soon finish the work for releasing the merit list of the applicants. She said that after preparation of the merit list, the department would upload it on its website.

After a long agitation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed Federation, the State education department started the recruitment process for the 1898 posts of the primary teachers in the State. The department later added 96, and 800 more posts under backlog quota in this recruitment drive. The recruitment process however received a jolt when HC while hearing the petition of Tehri Garhwal resident Keshwanand Ghildiyal quashed the recruitment advertisement of 1898 posts of primary teachers on the ground that the process of recruitment is not as per the guidelines laid down in the Uttarakhand Primary Teacher Service Rules 2012- amended 2013.  The education department challenged this verdict and on Tuesday the bench of Justice KM Josef and Justice VK Bisht asked the department to go ahead with the process of recruitment but refrained it from declaring the result till final hearing in the case.
