President’s scheduled trips to Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines on Sunday is uncertain in view of the inclement weather likely to continue. The administrative and police officials said that the trips are yet to be cancelled. However, a senior police officer said that the decision would be taken tomorrow, depending on the weather condition.   Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that with the possibility of the sky remaining overcast and also of  moderate rain lashing Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts on Sunday, the trip is likely to be cancelled. Notably, while Rudraprayag houses Kedarnath shrine the Badrinath shrine is located in Chamoli district. Singh said that the chopper with the President on board is unlikely to take off unless the weather  clears dramatically. “Things would be clear on Sunday morning whether the  presidential trip to the shrines is possible or not,” he added. Notably,  as per the schedule,  President Ram Nath Kovind would plant a sapling at Raj Bhawan at 6 am on Sunday and at 6:30 am he would go to GTC helipad from where he would fly to Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines. He would be back to Dehradun at 1 pm on Sunday and would then fly back to New Delhi.
