The patients planning to visit the Out Patient Department (OPD) of Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Government Hospital here on December 12 would probably return home without seeing the doctor as most of the medical officers of this hospital have been deployed for the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee. For the visit of the President to Mussoorie on Friday the administration has drawn five medical officers from the Government hospital located in the Dalanwala locality popularly known as Coronation Hospital.

Those listed for the Presidential visit duty include Surgeon Dr Kush Areon, Orthopaedic surgeon Dr SN Singh, anaesthetist Dr SK Verma and Pathologist Dr JP Nautiyal.  When contacted the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of hospital Dr Bharti Rana accepted that the hospital would face difficulty in the operating the OPDs of the hospital on Friday as she would be able to spare only 2 -3 doctors for the OPD.

She said that the hospital is already short of doctors and the senior officers of the department know about the situation.   The hospital has a big campus and has a sanctioned in house patient capacity of 58 beds; the Fortis hospital is also located in its campus.

The hospital has 28 sanctioned posts of doctors out which 12 posts are lying vacant. At present the hospital is catering its patients without the services of a Physician, Dentist, Paediatrician, Radiologist and Dermatologist.
