Police sources said that State police have been compelled to change the IO for the second time in view of the fact that the previous two IOs being PCS officers had lacked the strength to grill IAS officer Saurabh Jain rightly.
“Things are crystal clear that Jain had helped Choudhary to stay in the academy for around seven months. But there has not been significant progress as Jain is yet to be sufficiently nailed. We hope the new IO being an IPS would show the required spunk and take things to their logical conclusion,” a senior police official said.
Sources further said that SIT had enough clues indicating involvement of academy officers in helping Ruby to enter and stay in the campus aside from her attending the photo session along with the President Pranab Mukherjee.
But they are yet to step on clinching evidence on the basis of which the academy top brass can be rightly hooked. SIT officers had said that they were unable to reach out to them as the lower-rung academy officials were coerced into diluting things by taking the blame on their own heads.
Moreover, the academy director’s role in the Ruby Choudhary case has remained murky. He is yet to state his stance over the riddle. Police sources said it seems as though the director is striving hard to shield his deputy.
