A work plan should be made for facilitating improvement in the financial condition of people in mountainous regions through bee-culture. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this after about 20 kilogrammes of honey was produced in one month from a bee box in the Chief Minister’s residence.
The CM said that clusters should be made in each district to encourage bee-culture. In the rural areas, bee-culture along with agriculture will be effective in further improving the financial condition of farmers. Small groups of farmers should be formed and bee-boxes should be made available to them, said Rawat. He also sought information about honey productivity in Dehradun from the chief horticulture officer Meenakshi Joshi, while adding that focus should also be laid on production of raw honey. The Minister of State for Higher Edu, Dhan Singh Rawat, labour and contract advisory board chairman Shamsher Singh Satyal and the CM residence horticulture in-charge Deepak Purohit among others were present on the occasion.
