The Mussoorie MlA Ganesh Joshi has asked the Garhi Cantonment Board chief executive officer to prepare a proposal and submit it to the Ministry of Defence regarding land transfer for laying of sewer line in Garhi Cantt.

Holding a meeting with the cantonment board CEO and officials of the Peyjal Nigam, Joshi said that the corporation had conducted a survey and prepared the map for the task of laying sewer line in the cantonment area.

Officials informed that construction of one sewage treatment plant and pumping station at two sites is planned to be undertaken in the cantonment area. The site for constructing the STP has been identified but the cantonment board does not have land for the pumping station.

The CEO informed that the board does not have its own land and the land which is available belongs either to the defence assets department or the army. As construction work is proscribed on such land, the MlA directed the CEO to submit a land transfer proposal to the ministry.

Joshi said that he will also communicate with Defence minister Manohar Parrikar on this issue. As the ONGC has substantial land at the site identified for the pumping station, Joshi said that he will talk to Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the ONGC chairman on this subject.

DP Singh of the BJP informed that years ago the cantonment board had constructed a tube well behind the board office through the Peyjal Nigam but the corporation has not yet handed it over to the board after construction which is still incomplete.
