The dream of a daughter of Uttarakhand Pratishtha Mamgain who hails from Pauri of district has come true as she has become a member of the elite Indian Administrative Service after she has secured the 50th rank in the examination 2017. More remarkably, she has come out with the flying colours in one of the most difficult examinations of the country in her maiden attempt. She said she had taken the examination following a six- month coaching. Her sterling achievement has naturally made her parents, the people of her village and the district Pauri bubbling with a pride.

Pratishtha is a resident of village Bangwari located  some four kilometers from Pauri town. Her father Suresh Mamgain, a retired Major General of the Army, said that he was confident that his daughter would crack the IAS examination successfully.  Despite being selected for engineering course, she completed her graduation in Economics from the prestigious St. Stephen College, Delhi.

She said that she had started dreaming of becoming an IAS right from her high school days. Her younger sister Shreya is doing graduation presently and their mother Parmeshwari Mamgain is a teacher in loreto Convent based in Delhi Cantonment.

Pratishtha’s proud  father said that her two daughters have never made them to feel that they have missing something by having no son.  “Pratishtha though endowed with inherent talent  is always serious with her studies. However, she has not allowed herself to remain ensconced in the cocoon of her study. She is equally enthusiastic about sports and social activities,” he said, eyes beaming with the pride of begetting an accomplished daughter.

Pratishtha said that though she was born in Delhi she is more attached to her real State Uttarakhand. “The hills the State abounds in are where I belong to emotionally and spiritually,” she said, adding that she is always inclined to work hard while chasing a goal. “Besides, the role my parents played is doubtless the principal contributor to my success,” she said.
