An economically and militarily powerful India which provides equal opportunities for all is what the vision for New India is about opined Shaurya Doval, the director of India Foundation and son of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, while addressing students in a seminar on Vision India at Doon University here on Thursday.

The seminar was held by the university's deptt of management. He said that in the year 2022 India will complete 75 years of its independence while in the year 2047 it will enter into 100 years of  independence. In such a scenario the nation building would be dependent on vision of new India. Doval said vision of India should be centred around 3 things in which making a safe country by strengthening internal security, ensuring women safety, civil defence and secure borders is first thing. He added that India is nuke power and in terms of military capabilities it occupies 2nd place in the world.

He added that the second mantra of New India is to make an economically powerful India. Doval said that soon India would be a country with an economy of 5 Trillion dollars and there are only 16 nations in the world which have economies in excess of one trillion dollars. He listed Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra scheme, Start Up scheme, Prime Minister’s Bima Yojana, Agriculture insurance scheme and digital India as some of the important measures taken by the Centre  that have strengthened the economy.

He went on to say that the third mantra is to make an impartial India where equal opportunities are provided to all. Responding to the questions of students, Doval said that economy should be accelerated at a higher pace to ensure employment opportunities. He was of the view that the ambitious projects like Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan would succeed only when our economy is strong. He said that the use of Information technology is vital for both internal security and economy.

The Tehri, MP Mala Rajya laxmi Shah said in today’s world women are not behind men and some areas they are actually ahead.

The VC of Doon University C S Nautiyal welcomed the dignitaries. In his address, he shared his vision for progress of the university. Mrinal Dobhal and Ajendra Ajay and large number of faculty members and students attended the programme.
