Some consumers have alleged that the electricity department is landing them in problems as it is sending them average electricity bills on monthly basis instead of sending the accurate bills.
“What happens is that the average bill does not reflect the exact figures. Sometimes the amount is more than the power we consume and at others it is less than the power we consume. This is what is leaving us confused,” said one of the consumers Ramesh, resident of Dalanwala. Another of them said that the power department officials are refusing to rectify the errors. “They are not in a position to inform us the exact consumption of electricity,” he said.
Some electricity department insiders said that the department is losing revenue by sending average electricity bills to the consumers. “Some officials who are responsible for the same should solve the problems of the consumers at the earliest,” said one of them.
Quizzed over why such things are happening, Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) media in-charge and chief engineer AK Singh said that the department officials have been directed to correct the anomalies at the earliest.
