Power department fails to curb line loss incidents

The tall claims made by the State power department for curbing the line loss incidents are not potent enough to achieve the target as the department took nearly 12 days to register a case against the unauthorized electricity consumer, who was found accused of using pilfered electricity in amusement park.

According to the information available, the vigilance cell of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited conducted raid at Shastardhara, Dehradun based amusement park on March, 28. After raiding the spot, an estimate of nearly Rs 62 lakh was also made by the department as the park authorities were using the tampered electronic meter that failed to register the accurate reading of electricity units consumed.  After impounding the electronic meter, the owner of the park was called on April 04 and 09 and was found that the meter was tampered and started functioning slow with the help of remote control device.  Shockingly, state power department took nearly 12 days to register the case against the amusement park authorities.

After confirming that a complaint has been registered against the amusement part authorities, YS Tomar, Executive Engineer (Rural) said that the delay in registering a case took place as meter was to be tested in front of the accused
