The people of Uttarakhand are reeling under the power cuts at the peak of the summers but the Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) is consistently claiming that the power cuts are minor in nature and are occurring due to the local repair works. The official spokesperson Madhusudan said that the State is getting 140 MW power from the hydro power station of Maneri Bhali phase II. He claimed that despite a very high demand for power in the northern region the UPCl is not undertaking cuts in any part of the State and is purchasing power daily to meet the requirement.
The spokesperson of the UPCl said that the non-continuous industry of Garhwal division faced a power cut of 1 hour on Thursday as 220 KV Puhana-Roorkee line suffered from overload and low voltage problem. Similarly the non continuous industry of Haridwar SIDCUl, Pantnagar SIDCUl, Manglaur and Bhagwanpur faced a cut of 1 hour till 4 pm on Thursday. He further claimed that the problem of low voltage would end when the Maneri Bhali Phase II becomes fully operational.
