As the people of Dehradun are reeling under the insufferable heat wave condition with the maximum temperature hovering above 35 degree Celsius power-cuts are compounding their miseries.
In some of the localities, the spell of power-cuts continued for many hours on Sunday.
Irregular power supply was reported from several places like Tapovan, Sahastradhara Road, Kewal Vihar, Jogiwala, Aamwala, Dalanwala, Old Survey Road and Karanpur in the city. Things turned more grim as water supply was disrupted in the aforesaid areas with the power cuts dragging for hours.
Sameer, resident of Vikaslok, said that Sunday being a holiday, they had planned to spend the day in a different way. “ But the irregular power supply made a mess of the plan,” he rued.
Surjeet, another resident from the same locality, said, “I could not have finished watching a movie as the power supply snapped.”
Urvashi, resident of Vani Vihar, lamented that they had been bearing the brunt of the power outages despite the power department taking up projects to improve the situation. “The summer is becoming more torturous with the power going off frequently, disrupting water supply too,” he said.
Amit Rana, of Sahastradhara, echoed the same sentiment, saying that irregular power supply when things were so hot has been adding to their summer woes. “My locality reeled under protracted spells of power outages for three days since Friday . Water supply was disrupted too,” he complained.
