The authorities have started repairing the potholes dotting the stretch of the highway to Badrinath passing through Joshimath town. The Pioneer had reported the problems being faced by locals and travellers due to the large and deep potholes on this important road. Taking cognisance of this report, the authorities began the work of filling the potholes on Friday. However, the quality of the work started on Friday is questionable. It is worth mentioning here that these potholes have been filled many times in the past by the authorities. However, due to inferior quality of materials used and workmanship, the potholes continue to form on this important road. The locals are questioning as to why the authorities are not using tar to patch these potholes on the stretch of a national highway passing through an important town.
Though the department concerned has swung into action, the quality of the work remains questionable. Considering this, it is unlikely that the potholes will remain absent from this road for long.
