Incessant rain since early Friday morning hit normal life with rainwater gushing into many houses located here in low-lying areas.
At the same time, vehicular traffic was also affected due to waterlogging in different parts of Haldwani.
Since it is a routine working day, school children and office-goers experienced a harrowing time to reach their destinations in time during morning hours due to heavy rains and water-logging they triggered.
Further, rainwater spilled over on the roads from the choked drains, compounding the people’s hardships. Water got into houses located in several areas of Haldwani like Kaladhungi Road, Mangalparao, Dahariya, CMT Colony and Mukhani.
Several stretches of roads like Nainital- Haldwani Road, Haldwani – Kaladhungi Road , Haldwani-Rampur Road and Haldwani- Bareilly Road disappeared under water, making traffic to crawl on Friday.
This aside, basic service like drinking water and electricity supply were disrupted in many parts of the Nainital district, including Haldwani, on account of heavy showers.
