The post offices here saw un unprecedented rush of job seekers. Many youths are lining up at the post offices to dispatch their forms for the group “C” vacancies which the State Government recently advertised.
The Uttarakhand Technical Education Council based at Pithuwala, Dehradun, recently invited applications for more than 3000 posts of Group “C” vacancies in various departments. The last date for receiving the applications is March 31 and the job seekers are rushing to the post offices to send their forms. The State Government had earlier exempted the applicants from paying any fee for these examinations and the examining body has admitted applicants to apply for variable posts due to which one applicant is applying for many posts.
All the post offices of the city are witnessing huge rush of these job seekers. Manish Sharma, a job seeker, said he came to the GPO in hope that many counters would make the task, but he had to wait for three hours to get his form dispatched. He said many applicants have filed as many as 20 forms and this is causing long wait in the queues. Another applicant Savitri Bisht lamented that the postal department has not made arrangements for separate counters for women which is unfair.
