The poor response to the ‘Aajiwan Sahyog Nidhi’, the official fund raising programme of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), dominated discussions during the back to back meetings of the core group of the party and its legislature group at State party office on Tuesday.

The State unit of the party has taken up a target of collecting a sum of `25 crore for the party fund under the one month campaign which started on December 25, the birth day of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.  However the party was taken aback by the lukewarm response of the party workers and functionaries for the campaign.

Sources revealed that that the party leaders have now given a target of `1 crore to the Cabinet Ministers while the MlAs have been asked to deposit a sum of ` 40 lakh. One BJP MlA also let the cat out of the box when he told some media persons that a target of ` 40 lakh is given to him.

later the State Party President Ajay Bhatt denied that the  party has given any target to the MlAs or ministers.

The delimitation of the urban local bodies its opposition by the people also came up for discussions during the meeting of the core group.

The meeting of the core group was attended by the State Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, State BJP chief Ajay Bhatt, Cabinet Ministers of Trivendra cabinet, members of Parliament and former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The Union Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta, the national joint General Secretary (Organisation) Shiv Prakash and senior party functionary Sanjay Kumar also attended the meeting.

In the meet of the MlAs, the long pending issue of distribution of responsibilities and the vacant Cabinet berth came up for discussion. The strategy of the party during the ensuing elections of the urban local bodies also came up for  talks in these meetings.
