Final hearing on the ban on polythene in Haridwar and Rishikesh will be held on October 14. Environmentalists feel National Green Tribunal (NGT) would announce some important decisions that day during the hearing.
local Commissioner, NGT, Shariq Abbas Zaidi informed The Pioneer on phone that chairperson NGT Justice Swatantra Kumar had fixed October 14 for the final hearing of the case.
“We have received many complaints from the residents of Haridwar to the effect that the earlier NGT order dated July 2 is being flouted with the nodal officers remaining nonchalant,” Abbas Zaidi added.
Notably, NGT has asked the nodal officers based in Haridwar to submit the updated list of hotels, missions and hospice operating in the district.
Zaidi informed that the chairperson was unhappy with the list provide by the nodal officers.
