The campaigning for the lok Sabha elections 2014 in Uttarakhand will end on Monday evening. To make the most of the limited time remaining till the polling on May 7, the candidates of various political parties and independent candidates have also stepped up door to door campaigning.

Sunday saw Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressing a public rally in Roorkee while actor and BJP leader Hema Malini held a roadshow in Dehradun to garner support for their party candidates.

However, with the temperature in Dehradun hovering above 35 degrees Celsius, many party supporters are holding party meetings in the afternoon in stead of campaigning.

According to official data, 16 candidates of various political parties and independent candidates are contesting from the Tehri parliamentary constituency while the number of candidates in other parliamentary constituencies is 24 in Haridwar, 10 in Garhwal, 15 in Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar and nine in Almora.

The candidates, their family members and supporters are focusing more on door to door campaigning, trying to establish direct contact with the voters. With polling slated to take place for the five parliamentary constituencies in Uttarakhand on May 7, the campaign will end on Monday evening.
