Another woman leader from Bharatiya Janata Party who runs a kitty business in Haridwar has come under police scanner after a local organisation had complained to the office of the senior superintendent of police asking that action be taken against her.
A case had also been registered against this woman party worker who was also officer bearer in Mahila Morcha wing of BJP in 2016 but police had given her clean chit later. The social organisation has demanded that her case should be reopened.
Meanwhile the political tussle over the ‘kitty queen’, Gurpreet has deepened with both Congress and BJP are busy politcising the issue. SIT has been formed under SP crime to search for the absconding ‘kitty king’ while the flow of complaints in the police stations continues.
Receiving over 5000 complaints so far since the chit scam was unearthed in the district a week ago, the police searched the house of the accused Gurpreet’s residence but could find only a limited a amount from the kitty queen who is allegedly involved in Rs 50 crore kitty scam. The 12 member SIT team which is formed with eth SP crime heading the team has not met any success so far in locating the better half of Gurpreet Kaur who is absconding. The SOG team and police are also working at their own levels in resolving the case. The BJP leader had claimed that she had divorced him 20 days before the incident.
Speaking to The Pioneer, SP city Mamta Vohra said, “Our team is working in three directions. We are seriously monitoring the complaints being received daily from the victims of the chit fund scam whose money was invested in the community kitty. Secondly teams have been sent to various states in search of Savinder Singh. Thirdly the computer and hard disk recovered from the accused are being checked for further clues in the scam.” The police are also reviewing the old case of Gurpreet Kaur who was earlier given clean chit. The district BJP office bearer Rakhi Sajwan has complained against Shivangi Tripathi who was also a major player in running GIG’s kitty.
Meanwhile the blame game by the two party majors continues. While BJP has distanced itself from the accused saying that she was not vice president of the Mahila Wing of the party, Congress has made it an issue that the accused woman was seen in the party events with the cabinet minister Madan Kaushik.
Speaking to this correspondent, Congress leader Ambrish Kumar said, “Madan Kaushik brought Gurpreet Kaur into the party just before the Assembly elections of 2017. Both the urban development minister and the accused woman are said to be close in political circles. Kaushik has been safeguarding her.”
Another woman Congress leader Kiran Singh said, “Madan Kaushik must respond to the vicrims who have been duped of their hard earned money.”
