Political interference hinders police work

Published on:

While the authorities and senior police officers expect the police force to function efficiently and enforce the law, the police officers who execute their duty continue to face the brunt of political interference in police work.

Recently a sub inspector was suspended by the Dehradun SSP and then transferred to Rudraprayag district by the Garhwal DIG because he had reportedly argued with MlA Madan Singh Bisht, who had parked his vehicle in a no parking zone outside a mall on Rajpur Road on June 23 evening. The police officers here appear disappointed with this development. According to them, the work in the department has become so difficult that police officers are being punished whether they execute their duties or not.
