The federation of association of guest teachers organised a march to the residence of State Chief Minister on Tuesday. Their plan was however foiled by police as it stopped them near State Secretariat. The police used water cannon to disperse the agitating guest teachers. later these teachers courted arrests.
In support of their one point demand of reappointment these teachers are on a path of agitation from many days. On the day large number of guest teachers assembled at the protest site near parade ground and as per their prior plan started a march to the residence of State Chief Minister. The district administration had taken all measures to prevent the agitated guest teachers in taking out a march to the residence of CM.
The marching guest teachers were stopped near the state secretariat where after some pushing around, these teachers squatted on the road. later police unleashed water jet on the agitators.
The State president of the federation Vivek Yadav said that thousands of guest teachers had worked diligently for two years and improved the academic environment of the schools. The effort is manifested in improved performance of students, he said. The services of guest teachers got terminated on March 31 this year after which the High Court (HC) ordered a reprieve of two months to these teachers.
The State Government released a Government Order (GO) last month making provision of bonus marks for these teachers in new recruitment but the federation of guest teachers are not satisfied by this GO.
