Police turn blind eye towards rape victim's plea to file FIR

Police appears to be apathetic when a woman approaches a police station for registering a case of exploitation. However, Doiwala Police ignored complaint of a woman of Uttar Pradesh who had approached the police several times for registering an FIR against Ganesh Kankhal, resident of (Tapkeshwar) Garhi Cantt.

She had accused Kankhal of raping her on the pretext of giving her job and marrying her. Irked over this, finally she wrote a letter to the Dehradun SSP stating she will commit suicide if police do not register a case against the accused.

Taking cognisance of this, Dehradun SSP Ajay Rautela directed the Doiwala police station officer to register an FIR against the accused under appropriate sections of IPC. The victim who was pursuing a  professional course has been living in Dehradun for the last many years and claims to have come into contact with Kankhal through Facebook.

According to her, one day he allegedly spiked her soft drink and raped her in a hotel. On the pretext of securing a job for her and marrying her, he raped her repeatedly in various hotels of Dehradun. Doiwala police station in-charge Anil Kumar Joshi said that taking cognisance of this report, a case has been registered under Section 376 of IPC against the accused in the Doiwala police station.
