State police would use Ramleela programmes organised at many places across the State during Durga Puja celebrations to make the people aware of many things like human trafficking, drug abuse, child abuse, tenant verification, calls by fraudsters impersonating bank officials and Facebook/What’s App misuse.
State police have drafted plan for a 10-day campaign during Durga Puja celebrations in each district, said State DGP MA Ganapathy on Wednesday, further saying that they want to use the gathering of thousands to bring home their messages.
The work to draft the plan had started in July, the State’s top cop said, adding that a 15- minute video had also been made highlighting the above mentioned matters to be telecast during the Ramleela events.
Senior police officers of the rank of Additional SPs, Deputy SPs, inspectors and police station in- charges would be involved in the campaign to be launched from the Ramleela platforms.
“Things are almost complete with the officers meeting the Ramleela committee members,” he said. On the first day, video display on traffic awareness will be telecast during Ramleela programmes in each of the districts while focus would be trained on drug abuse on the second day. The third day would have its focus on child abuse while tenant verification would figure on the fourth day. The fifth day would deal with the caution regarding the strangers helmet awareness would dominate the sixth day. Fraudulent bank calls would be the subject for the seventh day while Facebook/What’s App misuse would come up on the eight day. The people would be made aware of the preventive measures against thefts on the ninth day while crimes against women and lady police
officials would be stressed on the tenth day.
After reviewing success, such awareness campaign would be launched during other programmes like Piran Kaliyar, Prakash Parva at Gurudwaras, Jhanda Mela and others in future, Ganapathy added.
