The local police have remained active in pursuance of the direction issued in the recent past by the High Court of Uttarakhand regarding one-way traffic system on identified roads in Nainital. On Sunday too, the police were present on the roads enforcing the one-way system in parts of the lake city in accordance with the directions of the high court. The police imposed the one-way system not allowing even two-wheelers to ply on the road from Mallital Golghar intersection to Mohan-Nainital Club. However, through traffic remained in order on this route, the flow of vehicles on other roads was congested considerably.

It is pertinent to mention here that following the direction of the high court, the local administration had imposed one-way traffic system on the route from BD Pande hospital to Nainital Club.

Similarly, the entry of vehicles and parking of vehicles is being prohibited completely in the Mallital bazaars.

These measures are being undertaken by the authorities as part of efforts to prevent traffic congestion and regulate flow of traffic in Nainital especially in view of the considerable number of tourists vehicles arriving here during the peak period for tourism.
