With a conspiracy theory doing rounds in police circles, the State police is now focused on identifying the individuals who might have instigated the policemen to go for the black ribbon stir. Sources say State DGP BS Sidhu is angry over the incident, though morally he is with them as far as their demand of hiked salary is concerned. Earlier, Sidhu had submitted a proposal to the State Government to have the pay anomalies redressed. DGP Sidhu said that attempts are on to identify the instigators. According to him, they are few in number. Stringent action will be taken against the conspirators, he warned. Some policemen who had participated in the stir reportedly said when asked that unaware of the consequences, they had participated under instigation. They have given written apologies and undertakings regarding the same, sources added.
