In order to redress people’s complaints related to theft and other forms of harassment, Dehradun police have set up police help desk (PHD) at an important place in each of the police stations of the district, said SSP Sadanand Date on Saturday.

PHD has been set up at Clock Tower under Kotwali police station while the same has been set up at Dilaram Chowk under Dalanwala police station and at Anurag Chowk under Vasant Vihar police station aside from some others.   Date said a dozen complaints had been received on the first day by the PHD at Clock Tower.

A women sub-inspector and police personal have been deputed from 11 am to 7 pm, he added. The objective behind setting up of PHD is to reach to the common people and establish coordination with them to achieve the desired level of policing, he said.

He asked the people to give some suggestions to improve policing. Complaint registered at PHD will be redressed without delay with the police station in-charge taking cognizance on received complaints at PHD on daily basis, said SSP.

SP City Ajay Singh said that now people will not have to make round the police stations for registering FIRs on complaints related to theft and other forms of harassment.

“We have facilitated the people to register complaint at police help desk and FIR will be registered after thorough investigation done by the investigating officer,” he added.
