Police deployment at Char Dham for peaceful yatra

Additional police forces of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been pressed into service along Char Dham Yatra routes to ensure that the pilgrimage passes off peacefully, said State director general of police MA Ganapathy.

The Yatra started on May 9. Along with civil police, SDRF personnel have been deputed at important places to facilitate the pilgrims to complete their Char Dham Yatra.

After seeking information from the weather department, police officers have been directed to update pilgrims through sending alert messages.

The officials will also update the pilgrims through SMSs about weather updates and change in traffic routes on way to Char Dham Yatra.

Accident prone areas have been identified on Char Dham Yatra routes and adequate policemen have been deputed to keep peace.

The police officers have been directed to deploy cops immediately after reports of disaster or accidents are received from any part of their jurisdictional limits to ensure that relief and rescue operation is taken up immediately, DGP added.
