Police conduct joint inspection on Yatra route

For the Char Dham Yatra that is scheduled to start from today with the reopening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines, three police officers from Dehradun and Haridwar district conducted joint inspection on Monday.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti informed that the purpose of this inspection was to identify the bottlenecks and the places where maximum problems occur at the time of Yatra.

Kukreti informed, “Three officers- SP, Rural, SP, Traffic from Dehradun and SP, Traffic from Haridwar are doing a joint inspection on all Yatra routes that come under Dehradun and Haridwar districts.

They are identifying the points where problems occur, especially the choke points where we usually face issues.

We are trying to deploy maximum forces. The idea is to deploy these forces in such a way so that at least one officer is appointed to supervise them too.”

She further stated, “Few cameras are also being installed at these points and we will be able to monitor the feed from these cameras online.

In addition to that, at the choke points instead of deploying force in two 12-hour shifts, we are going to station force in three shifts.

This is to make sure that the policemen don’t feel extra pressure and remain alert while on duty.

Traffic is a tough duty especially during this whether, when it is not possible for someone to stand for 12 hours.

Keeping this in mind, we divided the entire area in sectors and the responsibility of the supervising officer has also been set.
