Dehradun police have arrested a person named Khalil who had allegedly enticed a minor to elope with him on Sunday.
The minor was rescued from the company of the accused within 24 hours of the incident being reported. The parents of the purported victim had registered a complaint at Rishikesh police station and stated that five persons had entered their house on October 27 evening and one of them named Khalil had allegedly kidnapped her. Acting on the complaint, a case under sections 452/147/148/506/363/366a of IPC against the accused was registered in the police station, Rishikesh. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sarita Dobhal said that team was formed at police station level and its members began searching the accused. Acting on tip off, police arrested the accused from Shyampur Phatak, Rishikesh on Sunday morning. Minor was also recovered and handed over to the family member. The accused will be sent to jail after being produced in the court, she added.
