In the armed robbery case at the residence of the West Bengal cricket team captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dehradun police has arrested another accused and recovered Rs 9,65,000 from him. Police are also investigating claims made by the two of the accused of robbing an officer from Dehradun Regional Transport Office (RTO). According to the accused they had looted about Rs 1.38 crore from the house of a Government official. However, till now no such complaint has been filed. According to sources, police have spoken with the officer and are trying to verify the claims made by the accused.
The accused arrested has been identified as Haidar Ali, a native of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh while police are still searching for Fayin and Mishra- whose full name is yet to be confirmed.
According to the information provided by the police, during interrogation, accused Haider said that he had been living with accused Thakur since the last four years.
He also used to give him his share of the money for safekeeping, because accused Thakur used to treat him like his adopted son.
Haider also claimed to have robbed a government official in the month of May. He said that they had all distributed Rs 23 lakh each among themselves, after which accused Virendra Singh alias Thakur also bought a flat in Delhi.
Haider also said that earlier in their gang there were two other members Bhanu and Iliyas who were replaced by Fayin and Mishra.
According to local police, it was the modus operandi of the gang to target those individuals who they knew would have large amount of cash in the house.
RP Easwaran became their target after the income tax department raided his house earlier this year.
The accused have also claimed to have come in the month of August, but they weren’t successful at that time.
It is pertinent to mention here that police have already arrested five members of the gang-Virendra Singh alias Thakur, Mohammad Adnan, Mujeebur Rehman alias Peru, Furkan and Firoz.
