The State Working Committee of the Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS), the powerful association of Government doctors of the State Health Services was dissolved on Sunday. This decision was taken in a meeting of the association held at Gandhi Centenary Eye Hospital on the day. New elections to elect district and state units would now be held. The two year term of the present state unit of the PMHS was ending on September 2017.

Informing about the decision, the officiating President of PMHS, Dr Anand Shukla said that Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Dy CMO) of Dehradun Dr BS Jangpangi has been appointed as the election officer for the upcoming elections. He has been entrusted with the responsibility for conducting the elections of the district and State units of the PMHS.  Dr Shulka added that for smooth coordination between State Government and administration a 38 member committee has been appointed. The coordinator of the committee would be Dr N S Bisht. The committee would soon release the schedule of the elections.

The organisational election of the PMHS take place after every two year. The present working committee was dissolved before completion of its term due to recent large scale transfers in which about 40 percent of the total doctors were transferred. In these transfers many district and state level office bearers of the PMHS were transferred due which the day to working of the association was being hampered.
