PM inquires about status of Deoband-Roorkee rail project

While  reviewing PRAGTI (Pro Active Governance and Timely Implementation), Prime Minister Narendra Modi enquired into the present status of Deoband-Roorkee rail track laying project  and also into CCTNS (crime and criminal tracking network system) from the state chief secretary S Ramswami through video conferencing on Wednesday. CS assured that the half of the cost-estimated to be around Rs 153 crore aside from Rs  400 crore to be spent on land acquisition- involving the Deoband-Roorkee rail track laying project would be borne by the State Government.

CS said that Deoband-Roorkee rail  link project  is logistically important for the state. Once it is completed the present 42 kilometer distance between Roorkee and Muzaffarnagar would be substantially reduced. The 27.45 kilometer long rail line would have 30 small and four large bridges as well.

Giving details about the CCTNS, CS said that Uttarakhand has been connected with the national data centre. In the state, the public based portal  is available for  the people. Police stations have been lodging 100 percent FIRs through CCTNS, he informed the PM while adding that the  Union home ministry and the National Crime Record Bureau have been jointly monitoring it.

During the video conferencing,  the principal secretary Home Umakant Panwar, DGP MA Ganapathi and ADGP RS Meena were also present.
