As part of proactive governance and active timely implementation efforts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a video-conference with all chief secretaries to review the progress of Government efforts, including the schemes aimed at empowerment of the differently abled on Wednesday.
Presenting information about the status of progress in the said works, the Uttarakhand chief secretary Shatrughna Singh said that 100 per cent of the State’s adult population has been facilitated with the Aadhar card.
In addition to this, a special campaign is also being undertaken in schools and Anganwadi centres for the Aadhar card facilitation of those in the age groups of zero to five years and five to 18 years.
The chief secretary informed the PM that the Government of Uttarakhand is also undertaking consistent monitoring in order to facilitate linking of the Aadhar card to various Government schemes and programmes.
The percentage of seeding under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) had increased from seven per cent to about 77 per cent with NSAP rising from 2.2 to 17 per cent, from 6.68 per cent to 14 per cent in PDS, from 32 per cent to 34 per cent in provision of scholarships and from 32 per cent to 39 per cent in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), said the chief secretary. In order to bring about further improvement in the pace of execution of this task, the rural development department, food and civil supply, social welfare and the education department had been made the nominating agency. Referring to the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan being undertaken for facilitating the empowerment of the differently abled persons, the CS informed the PM that out of the 100 buildings in Dehradun, the accessibility audit had been conducted and completed in 26 buildings so far. These buildings are to be made more convenient to access for the differently abled persons. The accessibility audit report had been handed over to the department for drafting a proposal according to the recommendations.
