PM’s visit violation of Model Code, says Kedarnath MLA

Terming the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines in Uttarakhand as political, the Congress MLA from, Kedarnath, Manoj Rawat has said that PM’s visit comes under the category of violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) enforced in view of the parliamentary elections.

He told The Pioneer that by visiting these shrines just before polling day, the PM want to influence Shaivites and Vaishnavites in the country. “ The only objective of PM Modi is to ensure that  his campaign continues even during the time when the  formal campaign remained stopped before polling,’’ he said.

Rawat recalled that the PM had visited the Kedarnath ahead of Karnataka elections to influence Shaivities which are in considerable numbers in that state.

The Congress leaders alleged that the PM Modi has done nothing for Kedarnath and other disaster affected areas of Uttarakhand. “ PM is only coming here to rub salt on the wound of disaster,’’ he quipped.
