As many 9,212 cases of various types were settled in Kandhamal district on the occasion of the Second National lok Adalat. Out of the total 3,380 criminal cases as many as 2,425 cases were finalised here at the second National lok Adalat organised at different courts by the Kandhamal district legal Aid Authority. An amount of `3,31,263 was collected as penalty. Out of the 7,130 civil cases a total of 6,575 were settled and `10,21,541 was collected while `1,27,500 penalty was collected in 31 Dewani cases. Insurance companies were directed to provide a total of `47.12 lakh in 23 motor vehicle accident cases. District and Sessions Judge Renuka Sharma and many other senior judges settled the cases.
