A delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Uttarakhand Chapter led by its national president Mahesh Gupta who is also chairman and MD of Kent RO Company, met Chief Minister Harish Rawat here in Dehradun. This was a ceremonial call-on meeting by the new president.

Gupta expressed his opinion to the CM that if State Government wants industry to sustain in the State and to attract new investments, the State should focus on rising up on the ladder of Ease of Doing Business index of the States. Uttarakhand was listed at the bottom of index in 1st listing.  He pointed out that there is need of enabling single window system and little tuneing up of the existing systems with the need of the day.

In this context sighting an example he pointed out the there is no need of road permits for the manufacturing units in the State as this constraints the movement of the goods and thus productivity hampers. By removing system road permits for the manufacturing units the Government instills faith in the industry and there is no revenue loss to the government as well. State government must facilitate 24X7 electricity needs of the industry for easing up there production units. There should be an exit policy in place. The UPCl specially should ease up the policy for reduction of loads, disconnections and refund specially for the seasonal businesses like hotels. These businesses should be allowed load reduction in off seasons.

Gupta stated that investment is any ways going to come in Indian Industry at a much faster pace in near future and those states will get the benefit who facilitate a industry friendly environment. Unfortunately in Uttarakhand there are many units either cutting down there operations or planning to shift only because of lack of ease of doing business situation. Chief Minister Harish Rawat also expressed his concern in congruence and stated that the state is committed to and is working fast towards enabling a industry friendly environment and the administration has targeted to bring state at the 5the position on the ease of doing business index in the next assessment which is due by mid of this year.

The delegation was joined by  SP Kochhar, Chairman PHD Chamber Uttarakhand , Verendra Kalra Co Chairman PHDCCI Uttarakhand, Anil Taneja Reg. Director PHDCCI, Harendra Garg Chairman of member PHDCCI - SIIDCUl Manufacturing Association, Pawan Agarwal Chairman member of PHDCCI -M/S Nainy Papers, Manu Kochhar MD Hotel Madhuban, Madan Varshney VP of member company of PHDCCI M/s Flex Foods.
