The Uttarakhand chapter of PHD chamber of commerce has appreciated the new MSME policy which was approved by the state Cabinet recently. In the new policy all the proposed points in the draft submitted by directorate have been incorporated.

The resident Director Uttarakhand chapter of PHD Chamber of commerce Anil Taneja said that the proposed policy on MSME has focus on employment generation, local entrepreneurship development, promotion of micro and small industry in hills and skill development. He said that special emphasis on sectors like tourism, eco tourism, agriculture, horticulture and  agri based industry is given on the new policy with an intention to enhance investment in these sectors.

The policy also envisages special relief to the industrial units affected due to the economic downfall in wake of last year’s disaster and it provides some incentives for revival.

The chamber also appreciated the fact that the CM Harish Rawat has taken personal interest in the promotion of MSME by keeping with himself the chairmanship of empowered committee for monitoring and implementation of the policy.

Taneja said that despite of the fact that the single window act was passed earlier this year; the implementation had been a challenge for the Government. He added that the chamber hopes that the single window scheme would be effectively implemented by the State Government.

Taneja said that a level playing approach to incentivise the investment in graded manner according to the difficulty of the geographical area would definitely attract investments. He informed that as per the study report published by PHD Chamber the major constraint for MSME in the State included infrastructure deficit, power and transportation problems.
